https://youtu.be/YPrZSf3BinY I hope (positive expectation hope (Greek ἐλπίς ”elpis” hope)) that this video will give you encouragement. God gave me passages from His word to remember in a recent time when I needed clarity about His character. one thing to add!- “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” ‭‭III John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭ “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭ “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭ “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” ‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭ last but not least, enjoy this sunset I had the pleasure of beholding as all this reassurance was given to me in my time of need. :)

Saturday August 20, 2022 I’m writing this for anyone who has ever felt condemned when they missed the mark or fell short in life. I’ve felt that way before. To anyone who thinks God isn’t happy with them when they fail or have bitter thoughts, know this. God’s ABUNDANT pleasure in you is based on Jesus, His perfect Son. This is what He has spoken to me for you. “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭ Many times in the earlier days of my walk as a believer in Christ I would feel very discouraged and guilty whenever I felt obligated to make choices involving interaction with people, whether it be showing love to someone or even participating in an event or not. I never had trouble making decisions in unavoidable everyday situations, but rather the ones that seemed trivial and the ones in which I had the human capacity to decide whether or not I was going to do something. I mean, it was every little thing. Example: If I dared to pass by someone’s discarded candy wrapper on the ground during a walk instead of bringing it to a trashcan somewhere, that was it. My life was over. God’s wrath was surely imminent. Oh wretched man I am! Haha, I’m exaggerating here to make a point. But truly, when it came to making various choices in life I would always say to myself “alright, I need to make sure I’m making the choice God would want me to make.” I wanted so badly to please God and not let Him down. Oftentimes I would not feel like making a particular choice but would make it anyway, fearing that if I didn’t, I would be sinning and God would chastise me to teach me a lesson. All the while I would feel bitter about making the choice and condemned for feeling bitter about it. What I didn’t realize was these works were dead works I was trying to perform to “earn” God’s blessing. (see Hebrews 9:14) I rode an ever spinning merry go round of this kind of thinking, until He instilled the meaning of these passages from His word into my weary soul. Philippians 2:13 says “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”‬ ‭ To WILL, AND DO. I get excited when I read that part! Let that sink in. It is GOD (not us) who works in us giving us the desire and will to do what pleases Him. Let me emphasize that He is the one who produces the desire. (And may I add, if He’s the one working in us, rather than us trying to be good all the time, then He’s the one who gets the glory when we make the good choices HE produces!) May that truth give you rest! I wasted many months of my life condemning myself, trying and trying to produce within myself the will to do the things that please God, when I could have been resting in the truth that He’s the one who makes it happen. In a nutshell, God will never call you to do something in an area of your life without giving you the will to do it. He is not standing by, pressuring you, ready to unleash displeasure upon you the moment you fail. And here’s why. “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭ Many skeptics claim that raw teachings about God’s grace give people the license to sin, but that verse clearly states that sin has no dominion over the believer that is under grace (God’s favor). I was skeptic too when I heard teachings like this, thinking “if I’m not being pressured to do great things for God, won’t that cause me to become uncaring?” But what happened was quite the opposite! I have a personal story relating to this verse. One day I was feeling obligated to make yet another decision. I won’t specify about the story so that you can relate to it no matter what pressuring thoughts you’re experiencing in life. By this time I was aware that I was going in circles of self-inflicted guilt, and nothing I was doing to try to “fix” God’s favor for me was making me feel any less condemned. For the first time I chose to ignore the voices of obligation and simply make the choice I intended to make all along. I rested from my efforts of trying to produce the will to do good in of myself. What followed amazed me. Suddenly I found myself effortlessly giving to others, truly caring for other people, and WANTING to be around them, and all the while I was aware it was God working through me, not myself! God’s grace (def.- unmerited favor) has the power to change my mind, and I didn’t have to even think about what choices I was making, they came without a second thought! This very article, I write not from a mindset of effort, but because He is filling me up with so much encouragement to share! I was standing on my porch one stormy afternoon, admiring the rain. I thought “it would be nice to dance in the rain, but I’d rather stay dry. I don’t want to get cold either, so I fully intend to stay here”. Next thing I know is I’m running out the door, dancing in the rain more freely than a child, living life to the fullest extent. What on earth happened that made me change my mind so suddenly without any effort? God’s grace, His unmerited favor. I’ve seen this favor transform my life in the realm of my thoughts. Burdensome thoughts that ask “which choice do I make? A or B?” evaporate into thin air in the knowledge that God is already pleased with me because of Jesus. His freely given favor is wholly dependent on Jesus’s FINISHED work on the cross, and cannot be lessened by our shortcomings or even our sins. His grace is greater! It is impossible to be brought under the power of discouragement or guilt when you realize that God’s favor for you is ever abounding, not because of anything you do or fail to do, but all because of Him. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭ In Christ, God is pleased with you, friend. Rest in the love of Jesus.

Scripture reveals that the law’s purpose is to reveal our inability to be perfect, and to point us to Jesus. The law (the 10 commandments and the standards of God) are not for those who are in Christ, for we died to them* and Christ has fulfilled it. The grace (the unmerited favor) of God is not only superior but the way to victorious living in God’s will. I find rest in this wonderful truth! God’s grace has set me free from guilt, enabling me to be led by his will without anything holding me back. Other than this paragraph, I’m not adding much additional commentary. Just reference after reference of God’s word. I pray this may be as much of weight off of your shoulders as it is a weight off of mine. “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭ “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:7-8‬ ‭ *“Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. But now we have been DELIVERED from the law, (praise God!) having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the SPIRIT and not in the oldness of the letter.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:4-6‬ ‭ “And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the NEW covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭3:4-6‬ ‭ “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you ALL trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was CONTRARY to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:13-14‬ ‭ “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:16-23‬ ‭ “For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. >I do not set aside the grace of God<; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:19-21‬ ‭ “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:14-16‬ ‭ “And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our JUSTIFICATION.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:22-25‬ ‭ “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” ‭‭John‬ ‭13:34‬ ‭ “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are ALL summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore LOVE is the FULFILLMENT of the law.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:8-10‬ ‭ “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.” ‭‭I John‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭ ““I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” ‭‭John‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭

Much of my notes here are inspired by Joseph Prince sermons, much of it is inspired by life, and much of it came like a roaring river of scripture remembrance as I came across fellow friends and family with health issues. Most of all, this is what God has been showing me through his word lately! “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” I am here today to share God’s word in confident expectation it will increase our faith. There’s a TON of scripture here and a ton of words I could not resist writing so I hope you’re hungry for the healing God’s word provides in abundance. This is written specifically for those who are hungry. Enjoy. :) In every passage in scripture where it shows Jesus healing someone, the immediate result/outcome is written “-and they glorified God”. God is glorified when his goodness is bestowed on us! So come boldly to the throne of grace! (Hebrews 4:16) Do not hold back, as if you’re stepping over a line when you ask big from God, and know this: God is glorified when we receive goodness from him. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in ALL things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” ‭‭- III John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭ All scripture is God breathed. (II Timothy 3:16) The disciple John was the most aware of Jesus’s love for him as he referred to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved”. In this verse of God’s word in III John it is revealed that the heart of our Heavenly Father desires us to be IN HEALTH. This goes against all assumptions I’ve learned over the years, some examples being that God “wants me to be ill” or God “puts” sickness in us to “teach us a lesson.” It’s true, he causes all things to work together for good (*Romans 8) but notice in James that it says every GOOD gift is from above. It doesn’t say everything is from above. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” ‭‭- James‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭ I want to point you to a huge game changer in the realm of healing. This has helped me heal mentally, emotionally, and even bodily. Through the power of God’s word in light of his grace and the righteousness by faith through Christ, I’ve literally watched my own personality and vigor bloom, from serious and sullen to joyful and youthful- “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to ALL their flesh.” ‭‭- Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-22‬ ‭ Check it out! Did you see what he said? Notice how it doesn’t say God’s word is health to all our spirit, but our flesh! Our bodies! God gave us his word as a literal medicine! Earthly medicine can only go so far, but God has placed power in his word to be health to ALL our flesh! We don’t have to go through life under the world’s limited acceptance of weakness as we grow older. Deuteronomy 34:7 says “Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.” ‭‭ “Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” ‭‭- Deuteronomy‬ ‭33:25‬ ‭ In other words, the harder your day, the more grace and strength God will give. The more your days progress, the more strength God will give. God is not the kind to give you days on this earth without supplying the strength to live them. “So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” ‭‭- Zechariah‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ If we are to be healed in this life, it will not be a product of effort. God does not glory in men’s strength, but in our weakness. That’s when we’re made strong. (II Cor. 12:10) “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭ Notice when Jesus gave this guide to prayer what he said. He says to pray for God’s will as it is in heaven, on earth. Is there any sickness in heaven? No! What an encouragement to know that God wants us to receive heavenly blessings on this earth! We don’t have to wait for heaven to have abundant life. “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith WILL save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails MUCH. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.” ‭‭- James‬ ‭5:14-17‬ ‭ God gave this fantastic example of how a man just like us, imperfect, not knowing everything, can pray EFFECTIVE prayers through faith. “Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, O Lord, according to YOUR lovingkindness.” ‭‭- Psalms‬ ‭119:159‬ ‭ Clearly we can’t ask God to revive us according to how much we do for him, since in the flesh nothing good dwells. (Romans 7:18) But if we ask according to His love, which is abundant and unconditional, we can expect to be abundantly and unconditionally blessed. “And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit GIVES LIFE.” ‭‭- II Corinthians‬ ‭3:4-6‬ ‭ The letter, the law of God’s standards, is for the world. It is not for those who’s faith is in Jesus, for we are governed by God’s in-dwelling spirit and the righteous requirement is fulfilled in us through Christ, not by what we do but by what He’s done! (Romans 8:4) I can attest to this personally that the letter kills.. During the first 2 years after Jesus came into my life, I wasted so much time just beating myself up for “not doing enough for God” or “not being good enough” not knowing that by holding myself to an unreachable standard I was putting myself under law, (demands of doing good to obtain God’s favor) making grace of no merit, increasing my depression, decreasing my health, and acting as if Jesus died for no reason, as if I had to atone for my own shortcomings somehow. To think I struggled with this in the era of my salvation! I can say for sure Jesus didn’t take all my shame on the cross just for me to bear more shame. “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”” ‭‭- Galatians‬ ‭2:21‬ ‭ “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” ‭‭- Galatians‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭ “For sin SHALL NOT have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under GRACE.” ‭‭- Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭ “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives ALL your iniquities, Who heals ALL your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,” ‭‭- Psalms‬ ‭103:2-4‬ ‭ The story of Mephibosheth in II Samuel is a picture of Jesus’s love for us. King David asked one thing of Mephibosheth, and it was that he would eat at his table for all the days of his life. “I will surely show you kindness” Mephibosheth was given this blessing WHILE he was lame in both his feet. He had an infirmity. In the same way we can find nourishment in God’s word all the days of our life. “Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”” ‭‭- John‬ ‭5:5-6‬ ‭ “Rise. Take up your bed and walk” God can heal is just by saying the word - Matthew (8:5-13) “When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”” ‭‭- Matthew‬ ‭9:27-29‬ ‭ And their eyes were opened. What do you earnestly yearn for God to heal you from? I personally have a secret ailment only a select few know about. On a positive note, lately I can’t seem to fight this belief that God is going to heal me even more than I myself want to be healed, and have been waiting for it. I believe God will heal this secret thing to show that there’s nothing he can’t do, even when it seems to defy reality, even in this modern world. I pray this imparts faith to the hearer. Lately I keep hearing the words “keep feeding on My word. Your healing will come without you realizing it. I heard you when you asked me for help.” “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.” ‭‭- Psalms‬ ‭34:15‬ ‭ Im thankful that the one personality aspect of God Jesus came to reveal above all else was God as “Father”. It’s hard to imagine a God as great and holy as God to have a caring heart too, but the fact that he looks at us with the same fatherly love he looked at Jesus with shows how much he cares. 1 Cor. 13:7- love hopes all things, believes all things. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have LIFE, and that they may have it more ABUNDANTLY.” ‭‭- John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭ “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we IN THIS WORLD.” ‭‭- I John‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭ In this world! In this imperfect world we are declared as spotless, sinless, perfect, and healthy as Jesus is! Proclaim this, receive this! “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are HEALED.” ‭‭- Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬ ‭ You may mention as I sure have before in my life, “well I still have this ailment, and there are still people who are sick with health issues. How can I believe all this?” God wants us to ask him! He wants us to receive and keep receiving all that he has to give, in the same way he wants all to receive life. - (II Peter 3:9) Matthew‬ ‭7:7-11‬ - ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.” (- Mark 9:24) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” ‭‭- Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭ I used to look at this verse through a lens of guilt, aware that I don’t often seek first God’s will. Then grace became abundant in my life. Here’s an elevated perspective for this verse. Notice how it says HIS righteousness. His righteousness is in Jesus, and is imputed to us! That transformed my futile striving into rest! (Matthew 11:28) All of God’s favor is in Christ, a gift to us. Seek consciousness that you are righteous in Jesus, and every blessing of God is included in Him. I want to mention these two verses from God’s word as well- “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” ‭‭- II Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭ “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”” ‭‭- Mark‬ ‭10:27‬ ‭ All things are possible with God. We live in a world that is bound and limited by the state of what is seen, but “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬) Keep hoping for what you yearn for God to deliver you from. Keep receiving his grace. And in the meantime, keep feeding on his word that is nourishment even to our joints and marrow. - (Hebrews 4:12) Keep remembering Jesus’s body that was broken for us so we could be whole. He didn’t come so we could barely get by. He came so we could have abundant life.

Journal- Thursday March 17th 2022 I’m opening up in the hopes of reassuring anyone else like me who does not have this life thing figured out that you’re not alone. I want to normalize being transparent, because I personally can’t cope with life by acting like I have it all together. Life persists with its dire need for hope.. And recently, homesickness and depression has attacked me out of nowhere.. again.. I find that it’s capable of springing up like a weed no matter how easy or hard a day is. It convinced me for a time that life would never be beautiful again, that my emotions were dead, and I believed the lie in my mind that told me God was not meeting my emotional needs. Despite this recurring battle I’m thankful for friends who reminded me of the importance and power of God’s word, and thankful for the way He gave me a spirit of contentment and joy when I asked him to restore it in me. I don’t know why I’m still surprised, considering how many times He’s helped me. “He restores my soul” (Psalm 23) “The sun’s still shining through the night The stars still burn in the daylight Sometimes you just can’t trust your eyes I never left your side.” (Lyrics from “Never Left Your Side” by Stellar Kart)

Jesus said “come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.” Notice how he didn’t say “come to me once you have it all together, and I will give you rest.” No. He tells us to come as we are to him. For many it can be easy to think our inner mess must be sorted out before we can be reconciled to God. No one warned me in my whole life about the depth of the imperfections that I would find within myself even while knowing Christ. Sure, I’ve been told and am well familiar with the truth that no one’s perfect, but I never knew just how imperfect I’d discover myself to be. In some places I’ve seen a common mindset in the Christian realm that assumes we are a little more perfect than everyone else because of our relationship with God; or that we sin, but are incapable of committing the more serious sins of the mind. Even I for a time thought something along that line, and it resulted in me expecting that after knowing Christ for 2 years I would feel like a better person by now. Being the perfectionist I am, I’ve often found myself for months at a time trying to be a better person instead of just coming to Jesus. I wish someone would have explained to me in more depth that even believers in Christ don’t just enter into a state of perfect grace and Christ-likeness overnight, or even after 2 years of having God work in you. The truth is no one is any less imperfect than anyone else. God’s word says all have sinned and fall short of His glory. I don’t intend for the acknowledgement of our imperfection to be discouraging in the slightest. Rather, I want to emphasize the greatness of the truth that through Jesus, we have righteousness imputed to us while we are undeserving of it. God’s word also says that we who are in Christ are a new creation, no longer under the dominion of our sins. Nor are they held against us, because our forgiveness for all we’ve done and will do is paid for at the cross. Jesus is the propitiation, the payment for all our sins, past present and future. He says “come, and I will give you rest.” Referenced scripture- “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23-26‬ ‭‬‬ “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭‬‬
